A tsunami warning for Spain: "Cádiz and Huelva coasts are at particular risk
Spain could suffer a tsunami with waves as high as 15 metres in Cádiz and as two metres high in the Mediterranean.
The warning comes from researchers at the Environmental Hydraulics Institute in Cantabria as part of a European project called ‘Transfer’ designed to identify the areas of the continent at risk.
The position in Spain has been highlighted in ‘Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences’ magazine.
In 1755 an earthquake at sea killed 2,000 people in Cádiz and Huelva and the frequency of such phenomenon has been estimated at between 70 and 150 years, although in the Alborán Sea mini quakes are seen every 25 years."
