Eleven people have been arrested in Sax (Costa Blanca), in connection with €1,400,000 worth of falsified pay slips used to obtain credit.
Guardia Civil Officers commenced their investigation in November 2009, when they were alerted to a group of individuals who had made several purchases of expensive electrical goods such as plasma TVs and furniture, to the value of €9,000, through staged payment processes authorized by the bank.
Further investigation led to the detection of 60 falsified nominas (payslips), displaying the details and stamps of 27 authentic companies.
These had been used to defraud 26 money lending entities in a bid to gain finance, which summed a whopping €1,400,000.
Police sources confirm that one “Ringleader” was responsible for collecting the company data from the internet, factures and publicity, and producing the payslips, which were passed on to ten accomplices who would use them to obtain payouts of around €2,000 to €3,000.
In one incident where a car was purchased on finance, the defendant passed it on to another innocent buyer the same day, producing transfer documents almost instantaneously to avoid being caught out and paying back the money!
The perpetrators have all been arrested and now await trial in Alicante.
