Thirty Harraga (candidates for illegal immigration) from North Africa were intercepted aboard a five meters long wooden boat, off the island of Lanzarote, Canary Islands, said Saturday the Civil Guard.
  •    The 30 illegal immigrants, all men, were in good health except for one of the 12 children on board who "had symptoms of sunstroke," said the statement the Civil Guard.

Spain is a major European gateway for illegal immigration from Africa, but the economic crisis that hit the country since 2008, has severely limited migration.

However, in recent weeks, waves of illegal arrivals occurred on the southern coast of Spain from North Africa and to a lesser extent on the Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic, west of the southern coast of Morocco.
