PRESSURE is mounting for the central government and the Junta de Andalucia to take urgent action to create the train service from Fuengirola along the Costa del So to Estepona.
The spokesman for the Costa del Sol Business and Hoteliers Association, Salvador Vilchez, said it was extremely important for the area to have better transport for tourists, who are currently paying more for a taxi from Malaga Airport to their hotel in Estepona, than they way for their flight from the UK.
The vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce, Juan Cobalea, said that with the new airport terminal, the second runway which is planned and the high speed train between Malaga and the rest of Spain, many tourists can access the province, but not the Western area, which is isolated from the rest of the Costa for lack of a good train connection.
