Local Police in Puerto Banus, Marbella have intervened capsules of ‘laughing gas’ for the very first time on the Costa del Sol. 200 capsules were decomposed and a young Briton has been arrested as the alleged distributor. Local Police saw on Thursday night how siphons were being used by a woman in a bar in Puerto Banús to recharge the capsules, and after questioning her they found other women in Puerto Banús who were selling doses of the laughing gas for 5 €. The followed the trail back to the British youth who has not been named in reports. He was arrested for an alleged crime against public health. Laughing gas became popular in Ibiza in 2010, and also appeared in Oviedo last summer where 20,000 capsules were recovered. The capsules contain Nitrous Oxide, N2O, and it acts a depressor of the central nervous system. On overdose it can produce cyanosis and hypoxia because of the shortage of oxygen, and very high levels can lead to death.
