Isabel Pantoja’s defence team on Friday called for the prosecutors new evidence to be rejected by the court. The lawyers consider that the public accusation it trying to start a new instruction in the case, using documents from the Malaya case. Pantoja’s lawyer, José Ángel Galán, described the police reports as ‘false and gross’ and said the Diva had indeed earned 19 million € from her records, tours and TV and magazine exclusives until 2010. The police claim that she arrived in Marbella with 49,000 € and met Julián Muñoz. Muñoz’s lawyer, Miguel Criado, said that if the new documents were admitted as evidence, then the instruction stage of the case would have to be repeated. The defence lawyers therefore requested that no further new evidence be admitted. The prosecutor has responded by drawing the attention to the court of the famous rubbish bags full of cash which Julian Muñoz’s then wife, Maite Zaldívar, revealed in November 2006. The fiscal said that this was ‘black money’ was from illegal commissions, which the ex Mayor of Marbella took home. Unaware that she herself would face charges she said in May 2007 that when Julián Muñóz left her he took ‘about 50 million pesetas’. She was referring to 500 € notes which were in a safe in the house.
