Spanish film, 'El Discípulo' wins top British award: "Shot in the sierras of Granada, the film takes a new look at the life of Jesus
The Spanish film, ‘El Discípulo’, The Disciple, directed by Emilio Ruiz Barrachina from Madrid, has won three awards at the Thanet International Filmaker Festival held in Kent, U.K.
The Thanet festival is considered as the ‘British Oscars’ by some and the Spanish film picked up Best Film, Best Production and Best Leading Actor for the American, Joel West.
Known for roles in TV series such as CSI Miami and Heroes, here he plays Jesus in the fictional story, never told before, which shows the human as opposed to the religious side of Jesus, questioning the break between a possible historical figure with that of a religious one."
