Five more people have been indicted in the ‘Astapa’ corruption case based in Estepona Town Hall. It takes the number of people implicated in the case to 63, many of whom are politicians or businessmen. Eight local politicians from the Town Hall face charges, five of them from the Socialist party.The five new accused will be called to give statements to the judge in Instruction Court 1 in the town over the next few days.
The town’s ex Mayor, Antonio Barrientos, his cabinet chief José Flores, and the PES councillors José Ignacio Crespo and Manuel Reina were held for six months on remand in prison before being granted bail in December 2008.
