Marbella is cracking down on illegal massages being offered by unlicensed masseurs on its beaches. A law banning these masseurs from beaches was issued last year, but this has not put them off. In the past month, Marbella Local Police have issued 24 fines to the offenders, most of them Asian, and most of which will not be paid as they have no fixed abode.
Since June 15, the guards watching the beaches of Marbellahave stopped 1,300 massages which can only be carried out with a municipal license and in a specially prepared area.
Registered physiotherapists want of the lack of hygiene, the incorrect positions the massages are carried out in, the risk of contracting infectious diseases and the use of products which have not undergone controls.
In June Torremolinos police arrested nine women of Asian origin accused of offering unlicensed beach massages in exchange for money.
