heat wave across Spain caused by a mass of hot air from Africa, has seen record temperatures in many parts of the country.
Looking at the capitals of the country’s provinces, Murcia saw the highest temperature on Friday with 44 degrees, followed by 43 degrees in Valencia and 42 degrees in Alicante. 41 degrees were reached in Lérida and Tarragona, with 40 degrees reached in parts of the provinces of Málaga, Jaén and Granada.
Barcelona saw a new all time record of 39.8 ºC, half a degree higher than the previous record at the Fabra Observatory in the Sierra de Collserola.
