Coín bans the burkha: "COSTA del Sol village has become the first in Spain to ban the burkha in public buildings.
Coín (Málaga) announced today that Muslim women were not permitted to enter public places with their faces and heads covered.
Mayor Gabriel Clavijo (PSOE) said this move had come from 'a series of reports' from the social services, which had detected 'undesirable elements' in the treatment of women.
“Spanish law dictates that men and women are equal, so there cannot be any involuntary behaviour such as wearing a burkha,” Clavijo states."
